Question Swollen feet and ankles

My feet and ankles have been swelling for about 3 weeks. My Dr is totally puzzled about why. I am 31. I had 2 kidney scans that did show that my kidneys are retaining a little urine, damage caused from repeated kidney stones. I have had high blood pressure for about a year. And now my Dr says there is a problem with my heart because my pulse is 120 at times.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why my feet are swelling? It's so bad I cant get my shoes or socks on now!
Thanks for your help.

Re: Swollen feet and ankles

I have a friend going through a similar problem. His differs in that his toe nails are all yellow/gray too.
I have a Heart Condition. My heart zings like that without meds all the time!
My Average was 126 bpm! I spent an entire Month in and out of the hospital having droods of tests done and I mean a lot of test!!! The "claim" mine is from aniexy making my heart race? I am still not convinced this is what is really making my heart race.
Find a Good Cardio Dr. and see what they think? Don't be like me and put if off!! I worry myself sick for a good month or so before I break down and go

Possibly swelling from the hypertension, the swelling is referred to as edema, are you on medications for blood pressure? The rapid heart rate is called tachycardia. It is best that you seek a professional such as a cardiologist at this point.

Re: Swollen feet and ankles

Your body is retaining too much water. If you eat alot of salty foods, have high blood pressure, are inactive (ie;dont exercise, sit around alot) and are overweight, this will cause your feet and ankles to swell. This happened to me about 4 years ago, after I was diagnosed with diabetes. There are two ways to reduce the swelling; go on a water pill, which will have you urinating every 20-30 minutes,or get out and walk! I know this from experience!

Re: Swollen feet and ankles

I am on HCTZ, Norvasc, Altace and Toprol XL for my High BP. I also have RSD of the knee and leg. So walking is not an option and the water pill (HCTZ) hasnt helped.
