Re: Day 3....Thanks guys for all the help/suggestions..

Craving sugar is a trademark of opiate addiction...have you ever seen the movie "28 Days"? I always thought it was a good one to watch while going through withdrawals...I love that movie...anyway, there is a girl in it who is coming off heroin and has a gigantic bag of chocolate that she keeps with her.

Way to go sticking to your plan!!! And I agree with Lynn...you won't ever forget this, so don't intentionally try to feel worse than you have to! Doing everything you can to ease the withdrawals is only going to do just that...EASE them. You will still be miserable enough to never forget it, I'm sure!

You have a GREAT attitude, and that is going to help you so much. Keep on keepin on!

Re: Day 3....Thanks guys for all the help/suggestions..

Hey gang...Just wanted to thank ya Wind, BC, Lynn ,Christin for cheering
me on and all the kindness, concern you have shown...As I write this day
4 is almost here and I truly feel the worst of the physical withdrawls are
behind me - the Zofran has truly worked wonders as I am NOT sick to my
stomach at all and my appetite has returned with great force...no throwing
up anymore,no headaches,etc....I DO know I face the physchological part-
cravings and all but I have a written plan in place for those with actions to
take so I do NOT deviate from my detox/taper contract...I am still on track
100 %....However, I have since developed a great propensity towards ho-
hos, twinkies and I even asked my ex to pick up some Hostess cherry and
apple pies for me tomorrow morning...hmmm - maybe it is time to review my
financial portfolio as 2005 approaches and buy some stock in Hostess...Anyway guys thanks again for all your support and help and I am
sticking to my recovery plan till the cows come home....and living in wisconsin
there are certainly a lot of cows....( just some bad midwest humor here )...

Wishing you all the best.....Chris

Real chocolate milkshakes are so good at this stage. Don't try to do anything heavy(steak, fried foods) right now cuz your guts are tender. I'm happy that the worst of the physical part is over for you. I've never heard of Zofran but it sounds like good stuff. The psychological part can be battled with meetings and a good (ex-opiate addict) sponsor. After you are done with your taper it boils down to choice. Please remember how bad the withdrawals were....burn them into memory.

Chris-
Just checking in on you-you are doing really well-your gonna make it-with that great attitude..and writing everything down is key-
I wish i could apply the same attitude/philosophy to my own life-(i gained a ton of weight w/ the suboxone-Opiates..or lack of..create a sugar craving that for me is insaitable(Sp?)...i eat too much sweet stuff-when i was using i weighed 120lbs-im up to 155..since Nov..the last time i did drugs..So-in 9 months-Yikes!!!I started working out-at least 4x a week-for the past 3 months-i am starting weight watchers on the 15th..so watch those sweets-lol!!!Actually-eat whatever right now-One of the books i got from AA-talks about early sobriety and eating sweets-and they suggest treating yourself-
Well i sure did!!!
Hope you are feeling better today-sounds like the med they gave you helped alot!
((((((hugs)))))

Congrats, Wichris

I'm really happy for you. I'm glad you have a supportive doc too. That's a real Godsend, trust me.

I'm on day four of CT hell. I might call my doc and tell her I have a stomach bug and see if she'll call in some kind of script. Probably not. Everybody round here thinks you should tough everything out. It's part of the culture and hardwired into your brain at birth. Otherwise, no one would probably survive the poverty, manual labor and violence. Pretty country though.

Anyway, long digression. Just wanted to share that the only thing I can keep down for any length of time is chocolate milk. And when I went to the grocery store on day 1 or 2, forget which, to see what looked good I bought chocolate marshmellow cookies. So maybe it's not so weird.
