I am 61 and in the past month I have developed leg aches and
pain. I am not sure is this is just normal aging or caused by
another malady. I see my MD next week.

are you taking a new prescription? I've tried two prescriptions for high cholesterol and after a few days my back starts aching. I've found these prescriptions are causing stress on my kidneys.

I am not taking any statins at the present time. However, I have tired Lipitor, Crestor, and Pravachol, all of which cause me to have leg pain.
You could have PAD (peripheral vascular disease) or PN (peripheral neuropathy). Are you diabetic? Prostate problems can also cause leg pain, unless you are female. Some people that are allergic to statins (lipitor, etc)and fenofibrates (tricor, gemfibrozil) take them too long before realizing that they are damaging the muscles and nerves in their legs, and the damage can become permanent! What did your doc say?
