Re: question for the dizzy sufferers (ie. cut-throat, chiggins?)

Susie,

which antibiotic did they give you?

I, too, am suffering from chronic sinusitis, and it really, really stinks. It is the source of my brain fog, sinus pressure, dizziness, etc. I can control symptoms through medications and irrigation, but that won't get rid of the infection -it jut sits there and waits for another opportunity.

This all started because I had bad structural problems in my nose -a really deviated septum, bone spur, etc. Now the tissue is so screwed up, that my sinuses don't work properly.

Chiggins,
I took Augmentin for 14 days (Along with Allegra which I had to stop taking because one of the side effects is dizzyness!) He tried to put me on Avelox and you and I both know how awful that stuff is. I then took Bactrim for four weeks. I was also given Singulair.
I too have a deviated septum and that doesn't help. The bad thing about having the "chronic" version of all this is the fact that you and I will probably fight it the rest of our lives. The brain fog and dizzyness has never (so far anyway,,,) come back like it did before I took all the antibiotics, but I will occassionally have a bad day where I just don't feel completely balanced. Today is one of those days. I am not dizzy - I just don't feel 100%
My doctor told me to exercise more, don't smoke - which I don't, and use a personal inhaler which I bought and it seems to help alot on days like today. You might want to try that to see if it helps you at all.
My CAT scan showed the infection way deep in my upper sinus's, and that's why I had to take the antibiotics so long. I feel for you,,,you and are in the same boat!

Susie,

what's in the personal inhaler?

I've found that unless you are suffering from asthma, Singulair is a waste of time -it doesn't do anything for me. I think it is an overrated drug.

The surgery helped my breathing, and I've noticed that this time around, the infection isn't nearly as debilitating -since stuff can actually drain. So I'm glad I did it.

Have you tried Chlor-Tremeton for the dizziness? It made a huge difference for me.

Red face Cutthroat question....

So you are saying the Chlor-trimeton stopped working for you? You were one of the few people I knew on this board that had something that helped him. Any thoughts?

Chiggins,

I just went to the local CVS pharmacy and bought one that you put your face on. I guess it's really a steamer - Kinda like the one you used as a kid that provided steam in your room when you were sick. But this one almost looks like a facial machine, as you put your face in it and breathe. You can buy little Vick's eucaluptus (sp?) rings that fit into the thing and let it warm up for a few minutes. I just stick my face in it and breathe normal for about 10 minutes. It feels great! It costs about $29 or $30. It might help you, but you have to be consistant with it for the first few days.
Yeah the Singulair doesn't really make a difference for me either, and actually made me loose an entire nights sleep (was awake ALL night) and sometimes has made me have really bad & bizarre dreams. I guess it's a side effect. I haven't been taking it lately - Not since I was up all night the last time I took it.
I also take 800 mg motrin that my doctor gave me when I broke my ankle last December - Believe it or not, that actually helps me feel better. I think it helps with the swelling & pressure in my head. Try the inhaler steamer thing. I couldn't hurt!
