Re: Meds and hypoglycemia

Bharkin, i took lisinopril & hctz and ecotrin recently. Zestoretic (lisinopril&hctz( caused me much sweating and dizziness. I am now on verapamil 240, avapro 150 *(arb) and ecotrin.I noticed i still sweat out of the blue since starting the avapro. It doesn't lower my bp too well either.

Some pharmacists don't know about the hctz causing increase in cholestrol & glucose. I showed the article to a pharmacist at a local hospital and he was shocked. I mostly use a pharmacist at a local supermarket. He is the best. He tells me alot about the meds my dr prescribe to me.

If i had not picked up the magazine in my dr's office, i would not have known about the increase in glucose or cholestrol . Because i suffer with thyroid problems i have a difficult time deciding if its the meds or my diseases. I am sweating too much right now and my bp is slowly coming down.

Re: Meds and hypoglycemia

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the sweating, etc. could be coming from the meds for hypertension. Yes, they also could be coming from my thyroid, which has nodules on it but as long as the TSH comes back normal, the docs will not treat me. I really don't want to change hypertension meds because I am afraid of any other new side effects. Getting off them is out of the question as I have already had a stroke.

The worst part is when you are out somewhere and no other person is sweating yet your head and hair are dripping sweat. I am sure you have been there and done that.

Re: Meds and hypoglycemia

Yes and it is a little embarassing. People just look at you funny. I sometimes just feel the need to explain the bp meds or my thyroid causing the sweating. I seem to have read on this board that the sweating is bcuz the bp med is opening the pores and that is how the med helps to lower bp. Avapro is a cousin to lisinopril. I am diabetic also and my endo felt i needed to protect my kidneys.

I pray to God i don't get anymore disease. These are enough.
