Smile Newly diagnosed - Avandamet & Weight Loss?

Hi, I just found out for sure about 6 weeks ago I am diabetic. My blood sugar levels were just over 200. Now after 4-5 weeks of taking avandamet my blood sugar levels are between 90-150 or close to that depending on what I eat and when I test. My question is I don't understand why I suddenly lost 9 pounds in the last month since I started taking this medication. I went from 294 to 285. I am thrilled, but not sure if it is because my glucose levels are lower or because I am taking this new drug avandamet, or ? Anyone out there understand this? Thanks!

Re: Newly diagnosed - Avandamet & Weight Loss?

Avandamet is an interesting drug. The side effects of one portion is weight gain - I think that is the Avandia. However, the other portion can sometimes have the effect of an appetite suppressant.

Avandamet actually made me gain ten pounds in about a week. I lost it almost as soon as I gained it. But, I had a lot of initial side effects on it, that went away within a couple of weeks.

Still, try to see if you're eating less than you have been. That could be the culprit.
