Re: How dare the doctor treat me this way?

hey Andocrates, this is kimcav again I am doing want they want right now they first put me on wellbrutin than they put me on lamictal which I am still currently taking the lamictal. The thing about strattera is the doctor herself when I first saw her said that she had many patients who had bad side effects from it so I really don't think that she is going to give that to me. I don't know how long they will keep me on this other stuff but I am trying to do what they want. I have to take another computer test it is true and false its an hour and half long, than they want me to go to the memory class in october which I am already signed up for. My thing is when I am done doing all they want me to do, do I ask them to try me on the stimulant meds if they finally believe that is what I need or do I just wait and see if they offer to give me those or do I switch doctors. I was reccommened to take a stimulant by the doctor who tested me and found me to have ADHD, however I never went into the psychcaitrist and said give me a stimulant I simply took medical records and told her I was there because of a referral from the doctor that found me to be ADHD. It said in my file that meds were deferred to a primary care doctor or a psycharist so I went to my primary care doctor first and he said that the file was thorough and he agreed with the diagonosis and that a psycharist should not have any problems giving me the meds. So I guess what I am saying is I feel that I have been doing all that I should and how much longer do you think before they actually get it? I feel my main problem is that it is a military doctor and I think they are more leary than must to prescribe things such as stimulants. [ removed ]

Re: How dare the doctor treat me this way?

I can't believe that some people are understanding why the dr. is treating you this way. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR FOR A PHYSICIAN. Unbelievable. What does you not working have to do with anything? And how dare he say your back doesn't hurt. How does he know? Did he examine your back? Does he have proof of this? And he told you to lay off the fries? What the hell???? He has documented proof that the meds you were on were helping. He cannot tell you you don't have ADD without a full exam.

REPORT HIM to the AMA. There is no excuse for the way he treated you. Don't we feel bad enough, self-conscious enough, without having doctors insult us, who we're supposed to trust??

This really burns me up how insulting some drs. can be. I hate hearing about it. My grandmother who is having breathing problems ran into a dr. like this who made her feel like dirt.

I feel for you.

Re: How dare the doctor treat me this way?

I understand COMPLETLY!!! Our insurance was changed and I had to take my son (who had had ADHD for 6+ years) to a new nueroligist (spelling). The new guy was a complete JERK! During our first and ONLY visit - he started to ask my son questions but in a demanding, yelling, threating tone. Like "WHY do you act in such a "BAD" manor?, Why do you ALWAYS lie?, Who do you think you are to act this way? Why dont you stop acting up?

HELLO - if he could stop we wouldn't be at his office looking for HELP! I left in tears, my son left completely upset and not wanting to return. SO we went back to his old DR. explained the situation and was able to work out a payment plan so my son could continue with a DR. who respected him and treated him like a young me who had HOPE!

I complained to the insurance company - but what to they care! They reply was to send me 47 miles to the only other Dr. in their plan. Whereas the Dr. we had been with and liked is only 8 miles away. INSURANCE and the headaches that should be a thread on the healthboards.

I have also talked to mom, parents and teachers in the area and gave them our experience with this DR in the hopes that they don't experience what we did.

GOOD luck to you!
