Question Birth control pills and pregnancy

I was wondering if taking birth control pills after having unprotected sex has any affect on pregnancy. I have birth control pills, but I have not taken them at all, and I do not want to get pregnant. I also just went to a clinic and got the plan-B pills and took them as directed, the first was about 23 hours after having sex, and the second was as directed, 12 hours after. What are my chances of still being pregnant? Also, I think I skipped my period this month because I was due about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I was not pregnant because they tested me at the clinic before giving me the plan-b pills. Could my irregular period help decrease my chance of pregnancy? Any answers to any of the questions would be helpful!

Re: Birth control pills and pregnancy

I do know that Taking Birthcontrol pills AFTER sex isn't going to do anything! Because there are girls on the pill that have gotten pregnant. And since you took the morning after pill you should be fine, since they did a preggo test on you before they gave it to you!

Question Re: Birth control pills and pregnancy

But isnt the plan-b pills just higher doses of birth control? Also, if anyone knows anything about what the average percentage rate is for pregancy...isnt there a small chance of getting pregnant during the month? like only during ovulation? Also, anyone know anything about missed periods and the affect it has on pregancy chances? Thanks for your help so far

Re: Birth control pills and pregnancy

Hi Justine-
Well as far as the birth control pills go...when I was 20 I was taking my pills everyday at the same time and got pregnant still. I now have a beautiful 4 yr old and there were no complications from taking the pill and getting pregnant.
A friend of mine just took the plan-B pill about a month and a half ago and just got her period for the first time since then. If it were me I would take a pregnancy test again and then start taking your birth control pill.
Also you asked about getting pregnant during certain times of the month. The usual time is about half way through your cycle, although everyone is very different and women who have wacky cycles can ovulate at different times of the month. Don't rely on when you are supposed to ovulate. If you DON'T want to get preggo than you need to get on birth control right away. Also you will need to use protection/back up method for the first 7-10 days after starting the pill and make sure to take it at the same time every day.
