Can't figure out whats wrong with me

Started about 3 weeks ago, uti, then it possibly went to my kidneys.(NOTHING was ever cultured!)I was given TMP(or something like that)and then Levaquin cause I really started feeling bad.I did feel better after a few days, then came down with a nasty headcold.A few days ago I was given a tri-zpack for bronchitis and my uti came back, too!Today I dont' feel uti pressure, but just feel really lousy. The bronchitis is about gone. One week ago I had a cbc,a comprehensive metabolic and a glucose, all fine!!! But today I have no energy and just feel plain lousy, and I should be feeling better.I don't even know what to tell the doctor,I have been calling him so much he doesn't know what else to tell me!Its weird,if I take an actifed(sort of like benadryl),I feel better! I am 46 years old,and generally in very good health, even had a physical and all was fine!
If anyone has any clues, please let me know! Maybe a virus?

Re: Can't figure out whats wrong with me

It's not unusual to get whacked right in a row with illnesses. all started by the initial illness to get the ball rolling. The first thing weakened your immune system. then you got something else. so it feels like your constantly sick.
It could be viral and you know viral can't be treated. If you continue not feeling well, maybe you should go to another dr. an internist. they are considered detectives of medicine. Obviously your body is telling you something.
Are you going through alot of stress? that can weaken the immune system as well. try to get as much rest as possible. at least 8 hrs of sleep a night. Plus are you eating properly? excersising? alot of people forget how important it is to drink the recommended amount of water daily. even more, if possible. It helps flush things out as well. dehydration can make one feel horrible and weak and not even realize they need to hydrate themselves.
Do you have a low grade fever? getting chills? any back pain? If you touched where your kidneys are located you'd go through the ceiling? those are symtoms of kidney infection. Plus blood in the urine. but that can't always be detected by the naked eye either. the dr. should look at the culture under a microscope. there would also be an increase of white blood cells as well with an infection.
Just a suggestion. It's horrible to not have our health. I've taken mine for granted all these years, so now when I feel horrible everysingle day and theres no answer from my dr. I feel helpless.

Re: Can't figure out whats wrong with me

hi , i cant relate to your uti problem but i did have a very serious sinus infection and im still on a 10 day course of levaquin for it. the strange thing i saw in your story was that you got a bad cold while on levaquin??? The only symptoms of the sinus infection i had BEFORE the levaquin was immense facial pressure and postnasal drip ,thats it !! ANyway, to the point, after i think 3 days on the levaquin , i got the NASTIEST head cold out of nowhere ( i mean i felt fine one half of the day, took an hour nap, and woke up with a MASSIVE sore throat and completely stuffed up nose). I am still getting over that cold or whatever the heck it was that struck me, and its been a week since the first symptoms. I know how you feel, it was just a strange thing that we both got sick out of nowhere after being on Levaquin. Just give your body some time to heal and make sure ur getting good nutrients, water and sleep. Everything combining into one big sick fest is probably what is doing your body in. Keep taking whatever meds youre on and just rough it out, sometimes several illnesses overlapping will take longer to heal from than just one your body has to deal with. As far as taking the antihistamine and feeling better, that wouldnt surprise me at all!!! An antihistamine blocks some of the bodies inflammatory response to illness, etc and that is what makes you physically feel ill, not the organism doing it. So if youre supressing it, no wonder you feel better On another point, I dunno about you but levaquin is giving me some severe insomnia which alot of people on these boards have replied to me and said they expierienced the same thing. So if you cant sleep well, thats probably another reason why the healing is so slow. Your body does most of its repair at night while you are sleeping. Good luck , and i hope you get well soon!! Ill be workin on the same task for myself with ya!!

Re: Can't figure out whats wrong with me

Sometimes after a viral infection a person can get post viral aesthenia ( not sure of the spelling). It is a generalized weakness and fatigue. I have it after the flu and some other viruses. It can last from 10 days to 2 weeks. Give it some time, get some rest, drink fluids and eat lightly. Also get some really mild exercise. Your body needs to rebuild after a virus and antibiotics. These two things really play havoc with your immune system.
