hmm i wasn't neccessarily supposed to up my dosage to 200mgs.. and my derm only thinks i'm on 100mgs ..while i'm on this Prednisone.. do u think it could be affecting the Prednisone because i'm taking more?? cuz it has cleared a breakout but now i'm breaking out in a few whiteheads for some reason?? i dont get it??

Sky: he put me on Prednisone to get rid of all the inflammed pimples on my face so that he can do microdermabrasion on me when i go back 2 days after i'm finished takin it

but for some reason i am still breaking out.. and i dont think that i should be.. this is supposed to be a really effective anti-inflammatory.. and i just dont understand

Laura, I broke out BAD on OTC lo despite being on spiro and Differin which had cleared my skin before I added the pill. I switched to Desogen and I'm doing much better. Kind of want to change to Yasmin (which I've been on in the past) because I don't like the added blood clot risk. But both Desogen and Yasmin helped my skin.

i stopped breaking out right away.i used to get huge cysts.im also on 2.5 premerin and have been on the 2 from the start.the feminization of these drugs on a male body are really not that much especially if your over 25.if i have a choice between small breast that most guys have anyways and huge cysts im going to choose the small breast.my skin will not break out anymore.this is the only thing that has ever worked for me.i had accutane twice and it failed.

Hey Bordergirl!

Glad to hear the Differin cream is still working for you. I am still waiting for full results, but I don't think that the OTC-Lo is helping the situation much....it is so inconsistent!

I can't wait for my gyno appointment so that I can switch pills! I wish I could do it sooner, but, unfortunately, my insurance only covers the OTC-Lo on a 3 month mail-in prescription....2 more months to go!

Since Desogen has a blood clot risk, would you recommend that I do some research on Yasmin, or just switch to regular Ortho Tri-cyclen? Will I get another initial breakout? I know that my gyno will give me more information, but like hearing about other people's opinions on this board!

I don't do well on triphasic pills. I got sick every week when the hormones changed on otc lo. I don't dare try regular OTC. But thats just me, I seem to be sensitive to hormones.
For what its worth Yasmin is the only pill in the U.S. with an anti-androgenic progestin. So its the theoretical safest choice. But lots of people do well on OTC.
