I just got through watching a program and you just gave out a description that this person went through. For the longest time this person scratched ALL the time. Scratched so much it got to the point where the skin tore from him stratching. They did many test and couldnt find anything. Then finally they did some other tests and found it was hook worms (I think that is what it was) where some how got into his body. They multiplied and hooked under the skin. He litterly had these icky things crawling under his skin and that is what caused him to itch constently.

Go see your doctor and ask him for a liver test. Sometimes if bile acides are not pushed properly, it can make you itch all over. GOOD LUCK

I have to take some kind of sleeping pill just to get any kind of sleep, and even then I still wake up itching and scratching like crazy! There is no certain area, just my entire body. I don't know how much I can take of this. I saw 2 doctors, and neither one of them helped much. I think I stumped the dermatologist. My skin gets like it is goosebumps all over that feel like it is prickly. Then I itch, and after I scratch, the area that I scratched feels warm. I just can't figure it out. Has anyone else ever heard of such a thing? If so, does anyone know what it is and the cure if there is one?
I have a similar itch except it is only in my arms, mostly the forearms near the elbow. I have gotten it the last 4 years in the fall but this year it started in August. My doctor has prescribed Allegra in the past but it hasn't done much. The burning after scratching is similar, it feels liketo "chasing bugs under the skin". I saw a posting here the other day from 2000 that explained exactly what I had but that message board is no longer available. Things I have tried but haven't worked is: Vertex, Singulair, Allegra, Steroids and now I am on something else which I will post if it begins to work. Icing my arms is the only temporary relief I get.

Either follow what the others are saying or change your mattress, you could have bed bugs - I know it sounds wierd, but a friend of mine had a similar experience. She changed her matress and was fine after she changed it.

cheers

Did you ever find the answer? You are describing my skin to a "T".
