Allergic to Cats!

My boyfriend is allergic to cats, he can't be in my home for more than 1/2 hour! Is there anything I can do to my apartment to make it more tolerable for him, I want him to at least be able to spend the evening there. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Re: Allergic to Cats!

1. have your cat treated for MITES fleas tics and paracites
2. vaccumm
3. get a hepa air cleaner
4. spray Febreeze for allergies?
5. a product called "allerpet C" for cats
6. spray water mist into the air before he arrives to settle the dust/dander, or get a humidifier.

Beyond that, there isnt much else... good luck

Re: Allergic to Cats!

When people are allergic to cats, it's actually the cat dander they are allergic to. That is the stuff the cats slough off their skin all the time. Constantly. If you've had the cat awhile, your carpet, furniture, bedding, etc., is already loaded with this stuff. Unless you are prepared to take extreme measures (like parents whose child has asthma - get rid of carpets and upholstered furniture) then he will keep having problems. He could try taking a non-drowsy antihistamine like Claritin (which is now sold over the counter) or Zyrtec or Clarinex, etc, which are prescription medicines. They work for 24 hours. If one doesn't work, have him try another. They don't affect everybody the same way.
