Kidney Donor

I was a kidney donor this past May and since then, my weight /thyroid issue is out of sight. I am only 5'2" and over 200 lbs. Most of this is in the last 5 -6 months. Since the adrenal glands are right above the kidney, is it possible this is a complication of surgery?

No nodules were found on the thyroid but the numbers are still high normal. My dosage of Levoxyl has tripled since surgery. I am retaining fluid. Exhausted all of the time. Get out of bed tired.

My PCP thinks it may be an insensitivity to insulin. Anything ringing a bell with anyone out there?????

HELP !!!!

Re: Kidney Donor

I only had TSH done most recently. That is all my doc tests..it was 3.4 which is high normal. The range for this was .45 to 5.5 as I recall. He (he's an endo) wants this down to 1, upped the levoxyl to 125mcg. I had a complete physical prior to the transplant, and yes, I did have the the thyroid issue, but was only on 25 or 50mcgs. I have gained 30 lbs since the surgery. I have been to ENT, Endo, PCP and still I am gaining weight furiously. I am now going to attempt to find a doctor that is more open minded toward Armour and some of the things I have mentioned. I was also told that for whatever reason, calcium and thyroid meds SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN TOGETHER. Bran Flakes for breakfast on top of the combination of the meds taken together is a MAJOR NO NO. I am so desparate, I have changed my breakfast cereal and stopped calcium supplements altogether. Please help, any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
