Re: Got an infection after the surgery

I too, have had Pseudomonas and Staphylococus bacteria after my first sinus surgery in the fall of 1994. I have had two more surgeries since. I V with two different antibiotics, before, during and after surgery for three week, it still came back..I don't think I have gone a year withwout taking antibiotics at least three to four times a year. After the antibiotics are finished I use Bactroban ointment in the sinus for another week. I irrigate with a waterpik that has a special adapter in distilled water and a special fine salt. Now, when I get home I will look into a naturopath, I would like to know more about that procedure..

Re: Got an infection after the surgery

It might not be a new infection, but an old one that now has the ability to finally drain. Most doctors discount this, but I truely believe it is what happened to me after my surgery. Luckily mine wasn't too serious. The antibiotic I was prescribed post surgery took care of it. I hope you feel better.

Re: Got an infection after the surgery

Just to let you all know..I have tried the nebulized medications at least 5/6 times over the last year and half. I did the levaquin and prednisone along with oral levaquin for ten days. I would sometimes go back to just taking the medications orally inbetween. I think as you can see I still was sick with a sinus infection about every two/three months. These medications are very pricey, I think around $500.00. My insurance covered it thank goodness.

I opted for surgery in August and just came down with a sinus infection two weeks ago. I had only been off the meds for a period of about a month and half. I know when I see the ENT next time he is going to tell me it was because I was not irrigating enough, but I think that is baloney. He needs to culture the nose and determine what is causing the infection.

The idea of a naturopathic sounds better and better to me! I am so tired of being sick with the gunk and all that goes with it.
