Detox and rehab help with Fioricet

Hi. I'm kinda new to the boards and wanted to know if anyone out there is familiar with Fioricet and if anyone has been addicted to it and how to get off it. I've been taking it on a daily basis and cannot kick it myself. I've inquired about treatment with detox and rehab. and not sure that I can afford to do that. One detox center today told me it was an opiate, which surprised me. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. If nothing else, just looking for some support while I figure out what to do.

Re: Detox and rehab help with Fioricet

Hi there and welcome! I cant say that i have ever taken Fioricet, however I know what it is. So just to ask a few questions, How much are you taking a day? Do you suffer chronic pain and that is why it was prescribed to you?
(assuming that it is indeed prescribed to you) How long have you been using? Have you tried to cut your dose back and wean yourself off or even just stop taking it C/T? I know, lots of questions. But would like to know a little more about your situation so that we all know how to support you !!!! You have come to the right place for support!
The people here are wonderful!!! ValleyGurl

Re: Detox and rehab help with Fioricet

Hi Boating!
Fioricet, taken it and was hooked as well. Can you see if you have a detox and aftercare in your community or rehab? Take a look out for an addiction doctor who will treat you too.

Lots of faith,

Sara

Re: Detox and rehab help with Fioricet

Fioricet alone is not an opiate, it's a barbituate. Mixed with codeine, it becomes an opiate, as codeine is in the opiate family.

Re: Detox and rehab help with Fioricet

Hello,

I've been taking approx 9 a day for the last year and a half. I have tried to cut back - some days I can, other days it's HARD. The cravings are bad. My lower back hurts on both sides and I'm araid it's my kidneys. I'm currently looking for treatment centers in my area, but I'm afraid to confess to my family and friends about this. The mental gymnastics that I go through every day is hard. Today I'm sick with a cold and have not taken any Fioricet yet, trying to stay in bed and sleep and maybe I can start this CT. Also afraid of seizures going CT.

Thanks for your support!!
