Re: Love to jog, need help

I don't know the answer but I am having the same problem. However, I don't jog, I walk. Currently, the same thing is happening. The problem does not seem to be in my knees but in the ligaments along side of the knee.

Last winter, I had the same problem. That was the first time. When spring came and summer and fall, I had no problem. Now that winter is here, I have it again. Last January, I could barely walk just to do my daily business. I kept going and by spring it was gone, only to return at the beginning of December again.

Last year, I went to a surgeon and he prescribed two weeks of Aleve. That helped somewhat. I also had x-rays and the whole bit. He found nothing. I did increase the MSM by taking Senior Vitamins that had more MSM than the regular vitamins. I don't know if that helped or not. It didn't seem to.

Good Luck and I hope that someone has a solution.

Re: Love to jog, need help

Well I didn't like that......they didn't find anything? I also thought of doing the xrays to see if something could be seen. Mine is year round though, it even happens if I jump to long on the trampoline with the kids. Tried doing Taebo and it kicked in as well, no pun intended..... . I'd like to give the MSM a shot if it will help, just not sure what amount I should be taking. I hope things are better for you now, I know the pain can be very intense.

Re: Love to jog, need help

There are people on this board who swear by MSM. Maybe you could type "MSM" in the search and see if you can find them. I know that they have helped people with the dosage, etc.

By the way, when my knee got better in the spring, I went on the trampoline and jumped for a short time and my knee went back to the pain. Maybe there is something for you to consider. If you have a tendonitis, you could be in pain for up to 8 weeks.

Re: Love to jog, need help

If the pain is on the outer side of the knee, it could be your IT band.
The iliotibial band extends down the outer part of the leg over the knee, and can also cause lateral hip pain. Repetitive friction causes swelling and pain.
I have had this for some time, and it is quite common. If you look up Iliotibial Band Syndrome you should find quite a bit of info on the net.
Also, I found that the pain was strongest when straightening the leg and bringing it foreward when running
Hope this helps.j.

Re: Love to jog, need help

Thanks, as suggested I did do a search for MSM and did get a list of topics but couldn't find anything about amounts to take. I will read about the IDT band though. Have you done anything to cure yours? Or to ease the pain? Thank you again for your help guys, I really do appreciate it.
