rhinitis

I just want to know if anyone has the same problem I have with sinuses, I have been told I have rhinitis, but right now I am suffering with the winter dry weather. If I go outside into any kind of cold wind I have sinus pain the next day something awful. I have been put on allegra and a sinus spray in the summer for allergies and that seems to help, but my biggest problem is in the winter when it is so cold and dry, does anyone know of any help. I have been to a specialist without much help from him. thanks

Re: rhinitis

I have Vasomotor rhinitis -- no cure and an annoying thing to have. It's like having a cold every stinking day for the rest of your life, and all I can do is try my best to keep away from the things that trigger it. I have had that sharp sinus pain too --it happens when my sinus cavities are "too open" and I go outside in the cold/wind. You have to keep your nose and mouth covered in cold weather, first and foremost. Secondly, this is what my doctor told me to do and it sounds gross but it works: Make up a mixture of warm water with salt in it and pour it into your palm. You then have to suck up the solution into your nose and spit it out of your mouth. It is uncomfortable, yes. I have also shoved vaseline up my nose as well, when I couldn't take it anymore!!
