side effects from Zithromax(antibiotic)...can anyone relate?

I'm taking a 5 day prescription for Zithromax, but I'm getting awful side effects from it. I have a sinus infection. The side effects are stomach pains and diarrhea every day, plus an awful, sickening taste in my mouth that won't go away. I've taken it for 4 days now, I only have one pill left, but WOW....I'll definitely know next time this is prescribed for me not to take it. The side effects are almost as bad, or worse, as the illness it was prescribed for. Anyone else have these side effects on Zithromax?

Wow, it sounds like you are having a bad time with it. Everyone must be different, though. I love Z-packs. I have the least side-effects from it than with any other antibiotic. They also clear up my sinuses within two or three days, whereas others seem less effective with me.

Same here! Exactly two hours after I have taken it, both times when I was on it, I have severe stomach cramps and diarrhea. It goes away pretty much till the next time I take it then starts all over again. I know a lot of people sware by this stuff, but it has never worked for sinus or any other kind of infections for me as well as simple and cheap amoxicillin!

Thanks Nancy, I hope so too. It's SO weird! And the worst thing is, I don't think it cleared up my sinus infection. I just finished taking it and I still have some symptoms! I'm hoping that since Zithromax supposedly stays in your system for 5 more days after you finish taking it, that it will help some more.

Eat lots of yogurt that will help the diarrhea. Rember while you take this antibiotic probiotics found in some yogurt are your friend
