Tanning Accelerators

I am currently visiting a tanning booth because of a trip I have coming up. I've done this before and have gotten good results but I see many people there using tanning accelerators. Is it worth it? Do they really work? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Tanning Accelerators

YES!!! get one.. they help your skin a LOT!! not only does it help it tan faster and better.. it keeps your skin soft and prevents all the wrinkles and dryness! some are really expensive but i have heard GREAT things about them.. but i picked up some Ocean Potion at walmart for $4! i like it a lot and it definitely is worth getting! unless you want dry skin! i use one EVERY time.. if i didnt i am sure my skin would be getting dry/damaged!

and good idea about tanning before a trip... well if its a trip somewhere sunny
tanning prevents getting a BURN.. which is the way people usually get skin cancer anyway. i love tanning.. my tan looks great and it makes me much more confident

Re: Tanning Accelerators

Accelerators are just a gimick from salons in order to get more money from customers. If you just get a good moisturizing lotion and apply it to your body and face before tanning, you'll be set. Any salon owner will tell you that the key to getting and maintaining a good tan is to always keep your skin moisturized! Don't let them con you into shelling out $40-70 for some lotion that does the same thing that Lubriderm will.

Bootyliciousbabe, a tan isn't all that less damaging as a burn if achieved through sun exposure.

Yeah that is true that pretty much any moisturizer will help your tan.. just as long as you use ONE! i would never buy the $50 lotions.. that is just way too much for me! some have hemp and different things in them that are good for your skin, but you can find cheaper ones elsewhere.

Yes LoveLiz.. I know that a tan is damaging your skin and not making it healthier or anything at all! However, studies show that blistering sunburns are more likely to cause skin cancer or serious sun damage than a regular tan will.

Wait till you get to your thirites - it won't look so great then. I just spent 900 bucks today on botox, a chemical peel and a tube of renova in an attempt to remove the damage that sunbathing caused.

Granted, a sun kissed skin looks great but leather looking skin looks HORRENDOUS.

Haven't you ever tried fake tan? They're really good nowadays.
