Anxiety and the birth control pill

Has anyone experienced an increase in anxiety since taking the birth control pill? I am on Lo-Ovral (only for 2/12 weeks so far) and I am very anxious. I am not sure if it is from that or from Lexapro that my doctor put me on to help with minor anxiety. I am on both due to perimenopausal symptoms.
Anyone else sense this since being on the pill or am I just going crazy?????

How long have you been on the Lo-ovral and Lexapro?

Re: Anxiety and the birth control pill

I think your body is still getting used to things. I am also on Lexapro and birth control pills. It took a couple weeks before the Lexapro stopped making me jittery. It will take atleast a month before your body is used to the birth control. Just hang in there -- nothing's wrong with you. I think the birth control is probably causing more anxiety than the Lexapro. You will level out soon. Cyndee

Another thing -- BCPs can really screw you up. If you still aren't feeling "normal", I'd talk to my OB/GYN about a different BCP -- there are many different ones with different formulations. I'm currently on Seasonale and it's the best BCP I've ever been on, after having tried about a dozen, all with their own unpleasant side effects. Good luck!
