Low Platlettes & HIV

My blood platlette count has been steadily going down over the last year. it has gone from 8700 to 8000 to 6400 and I understand that normal counts are 1.5 million. I have an appointment next week with a hematologist, but in the meantime I'm scared as I have read the worst case scenario that it could be leukemia.
I have been HIV+ for 15 years. My t-cells are 538 and my viral load is around 65.
I am on an HIV cocktail that consists of Kaletra, Epivir and Ziagen. My Dr says my meds may be affecting my platlette count. The only other med I am taking is Cardura every two or three days for prostate p[roblems which only consists of problems with urinating.
I have had bleeding gums for several years now but just in the last few months I have been experiencing a lot of nose bleeds. The only pain medications I take are naproxium sodium ( I have arthritis in my neck & lower back) or tylenol.
Can anyone shed anymore light for me on my sitiuation? Any questions I should be asking my Dr.?
Thanks!
Gary
