Mom has been on Iressa now for close to two months. She has outlived the month or month and half that the doctors gave her then. She was in the hospital and now has moved to a pallitive care home. She has been there about 3 weeks and at first was making progress by dressing every morning and night. About 2 weeks before the move the doctors took her off of the steriods as they felt that it was just prolonging what little life she does have. In the times that I have visited her, she only remembers me about 25% of the time and does not seem to remember my children (she seems to think that they are hers). She needs two people to move her to the bathroom, which I have no idea why she goes as she nevers uses it for what it is meant. She is in depends and now the cancer is forming boils on her face. This all seems so overwhelming to me as I sit here and write. I thank everyone who does take time to read and even reply. I am going back to visit and have only been truly home for a week and 3 days...... my prayers are with all the caregivers as now I am beginning to realize just how much strong one must be.
