Got on Tri-Sprintec today solely for acnes

Hey Girls,

I am brand new here. I am 25 already but still have bad acnes.
I took antibotics for about 6 months last year to but didn't see much help on my skin. So today I went to my MD today and got on my first pill-Tri Sprintec to give it a shot. I haven't been on any BCP before so i am very concerned about its side effects. I read all the posts here related to acne and Tri-Spintect and found out many of you have mentioned that this generic brand is far worse than the brand one (eg.it causes bleeding...it causes worse acnes...) I wonder if I should take them back to my pharmacy and talk to my MD to see if she can perscribe me the Ortho Tri-Cyclen instead? What do you gals think? Should I give it a shot ( my next period will come in about 5 days)? Or shoud I ask for a new px? All comments are appreciated!

The generic LEGALLY has to be identical to the brand. Give it a try first. If you find that you don't like it after a few months, simply request the brand on your next refill.
Most pharmacies will not take back meds once they have left the store, anyway.

interesting. I went to the gyn this week and she gave me a px of OTC because I had tried it before (my dermatologist prescribed it to me many years ago for acne). OTC did got my acne better but not every woman has the same experience with it. I too would think the generic to be same but if you guys say it is a difference then I will buy the OTC brand even if its more expensive. I was going to try the generic cause its cheaper.

Again, as I stated above, the generic and brand versions are the same. All that's different are the INACTIVE ingredients. Give the generic a try.
