Lodine/Etodolac?

Hi there!

I would be interested to know who is taking or has taken Etodolac (generic for Lodine), and if you have had good or not so good results. Also, side effects. The new Rheum. I went to yesterday prescribed it to me.

Thanks!

Re: Lodine/Etodolac?

Hi
I used to take it. Whatever you do, take it with food! Don't try and just take it with milk, unless you have a really strong stomach. For me, it was similiar to advil. If you respond some to Ibprofen you'll probably respond well to lodine. Oh, it can also make you tired in the beginning, watch out for that as well. If it doesn't work, try the old gin-and-golden raisins remedy. For me that works just as well as what the doctor can give you. (take some golden raisins, cover them with gin, let the gin evaporate..approx. 1 week...practically all the alcohol evaporates...eat 9 a day)

Re: Lodine/Etodolac?

Hi Dawn.......I'll have to try the raisins! That's interesting. I don't ususally buy gin, or drink alcohol, but if the alcohol evaporates that's good.....LOL
I don't like raisins, but if it helps I'll try it! I am so sensitive to meds. and it's hard to find something I can tolerate. The Lodine did give me terrible heartburn even with taking it with lots of food. I also had weird pain in my legs everytime I took it (I tried it for 4 days). Now the dr. prescribed Mobic for me to try but when I went to the pharmacy last night, my cost was $25! I didn't get it, but instead called the dr. to see if they have samples I can try first before paying that much.

Thanks for your reply! Take care!

Hello Harmony,
I've been on etodolac for 5 months. It works to a certain degree, doesn't take pain away completely. At least I can walk again with taking it! I have psoriatic arthritis with achilles tendonitis, which is very painful. My Rheumy suggested sulfasalazine if this doesn't do the job for me any more or embrel, but I don't want to get into the shots yet or the side effects from embrel.
Good luck,
Connie

Re: Lodine/Etodolac?

Hi Connie,

Welcome! Thanks for your reply. Etodolac gave me too many bad side effects so now I'm trying Mobic. This is only the 2nd night I took it and no relief at all. The Rheumy said it could take 4 weeks to help. It's also effecting my stomach so they said to take prilosec or pepcid AC with it. So I'll see if I can stick with it.

I got my recent lab work results yesterday and my CRP is elevated to 9.6.
My Rheumy said that is too high so I need to try until I find something that helps, also for the pain I'm having.

I'm glad the Etodolac has helped you some.

Take care!
