Well, I just came home from the doctor and he said that my strep test was definitely positive again. He said that although my throat looks much better, since the strep test was positive he has to give me another anti-biotic. The results came back from the lab, and apparently the type of bacteria that I have is only susceptbile to Cephalosporins, which Levaquin is not. So I am on Ceftin for 10 more days. He told me to come back a week after I finish it to get another strep test. I feel better knowing that I am at least on the right anti-biotic now (I hope!). He said that if he had not know that I have strep, by looking in my throat alone he would have thought it was fine. So that explains why even when it was still huirting, we all thought it was clearing up. There must just be a tiny bit of bacteria lingering back there. Plus, the problem is that I have Multiple Sclerosis, which inhibits my ability to fight off infections because it is an auto-immune disease. I am on Interferon to treat the MS, and interferon is an immunosuppressant. So I am definitely not able to fight off anything. UGH!!!!
