Question regarding Antibiotics and Birth Control

Hello,
My girlfriend has been taking amoxicillin this month for her throat and we have been wearing condoms through out her current cycle because of this. She is scheduled to have her period in two days. Last night we had quite a bit to drink and in our intoxicated state did not put on a condom :-/ I didn't *** in her thought. I am worried now. My girlfriend doesn't worry about what happened enough to get emergency contraception pills... but I am worried. Now I know some websites say that the risk of a decrease in effectivness is overstated, but I just want to know if there is risk of pregnancy here. Since she is 2 days from her period is the chance less? Thanks for your help.

Doesn't alcohol reduce the effectiveness of the pill, too?

Amoxil is one of the antibiotics that supposedly can decrease pill effectiveness. How long ago did she take her last antibiotic?

Where she is at in her cycle has no control of the effectiveness.

And no, alcohol does not decrease the effectiveness of the pill.

Re: Question regarding Antibiotics and Birth Control

She is actually still on the antibiotic. The doctor put her back on it until she can get her tonsoles removed. So she has been on it pretty much all this cycle. So if she follows a normal ovulation time period... i would have nothing to worry about. But what I am worried about is the fact that say a day or two before the antibiotic affected the the pill and she ovulated.. even though she is scheduled to have her period in 2 days... Is that possible? Well i know anything is possible according to these boards... but is that likely?

If she's on the pill, she shouldn't be ovulation. The pill PREVENTS ovulation.

However, taking the antibiotic can cause ovulation. Since you recently had sex, there is a chance that she could become/is pregnant.

If she doesn't get her period when scheduled, she definately needs to take a pregnancy test.
