Twitching Under Eye/ Other Symptoms

I went to the doctor early last week, as I had a cold for a while and it wasn’t going away. I also had been feeling lethargic and had a strange feeling in my throat, which didn’t really feel like a sore throat but more like an irritation or lump. He told me that I probably had a severe cold and gave me a script for Amoxicillin in case I developed an infection. I decided to take the medicine anyway even though I didn’t have bronchitis or anything like that. The cold has gotten better, but I still have a slight irritation in my throat, and can feel it almost all the way down to my chest. And about 4 days ago, I started getting a twitching under my left eye that has been going almost non-stop for the past few days, and is driving me crazy. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I’m a 28 yr old male, I smoke occasionally (more like socially) and drink sometimes on the weekends. Thanks.

Re: Twitching Under Eye/ Other Symptoms

Fiends tell me stress. I noticed mine doing it last week when allergens went off the chart. Ask the doc for antihistamine eyedrop samples. It calms mine down. My allergist told me her eyes did it too and she thought it was stress, but she has allergies as well and agrees that it could be allergy related. Talking to the nurse as she gave me my allergy shot, she has has really gooey eyes the last two weeks as has my wife.

Good luck.

Re: Twitching Under Eye/ Other Symptoms

cdogstu,

Twitching around the eye is very common. As zrules and jung say it could be stress, allergy, eyestrain.

Fatigue is one of the biggest causes.

I have had this happen many times in my life..sometimes for 5 days at a stretch! My doctor has recommended taking an ice-cube and rubbing it on the area for about 30 secs (if you can stand the cold), once every 1/2 hour or so.

This often calms down those mis-firing muscle fibres.

Re: Twitching Under Eye/ Other Symptoms

Hi zuzu. I have used cold packs and you are right that the cold helps calm the twitches. In addition, mine twitch for five days also at a stretch. Where would we be without boards to post our afflictions on? I would think I was crazy w/o people's input from all over our great nation. Being on third shift, I know that fatigue is definitely an issue for me.
