Well what I have been doing is not eating what may upset my stomach. Although I blow gas with this horrible smell. And burp some times not like before though. Before i woyuld feel my intestiones growling but not anymore.

I think you pretty much have to take the medication for a while, especially if you have an Ulcer. I think just cutting out on what upsets your stomach is okay, but ask your doctor to be sure. I would definitely avoid sodas or anything fried. Also, the medication usually makes you burp and pass gas. I burped a lot when I was on it.

Re: Ulcer....

Hi Chantel2003,

I have a duodenal ulcer as well, I was diagnosed with it about 8-9 months ago now.

I was also put on Nexium and I took 40mg for 2 months and then went off it because I felt fine and thought I was cured.

I have recently been having all of the same symptoms again so went to the docs and he said I should have been on the meds for 6 months, so he has given me a new script for the next six months now, but 20mg tablets this time.

Hope this info helps.

cheers
Karen

Hi Karen

Thank you for the info. I haven't done an upper GI yet, but I think my doctor will whined up doing it. I have been having a lot of pain in my chest and he thinks it could be a "ring". It is somehow caused by the acid that comes up in your esophagus and causes errosion. He may have to stretch my esophagus out. Everytime I eat, I feel like my food stays stuck in between my breast. He put me on Prevacid solutabs(sp?). They melt in your mouth instead of having to swallow them since I am having trouble with big medication feeling like it is stuck.
