Thanks a million for your reply. Would you be able to remember the amount or brand of the nettle capsules?

Re: Tell your story!!!

Hey, this is for Maya and anyone else who is going to take teracycline. I used it for about two years, and it worked really well, im off it now and i rarely get spots now. Its just really hard taking it cos you have to take it at specific times. If you need any more info or would like to know about my experience than let me know!

Re: Tell your story!!!

Hi - I've been here before but I searched this thread and didn't find my name, so I guess I never told my story.

I'm 37. Started breaking out the summer I turned 13. The doctor tried me on Retin-A and Erythromycin to no avail. When I was 19 and my family doctor finally put me on birth control pills, there was a huge improvement, virtually over night. My skin was never really clear, but it never got anywhere near the way it was when I was a teen.

So it continued until 2 years ago when I bought my house and suddenly started getting really bad acne. The only time it cleared up was for a couple weeks last winter when I was on Augmentin.

I've always taken good care of my skin. Two days ago I was challenged on whether or not I was over 18! But the downside of having skin like a teenager is... having skin like a teenager.

I just started a new BCP, Lo/Ovral, and starting today I'm going to try using benzoyl peroxide in the morning and salicylic acid in the evening. I also use an alpha hydroxy cream (more acid). Luckily, my skin is neither excessively dry nor excessively oily, so I don't have to worry about that, but it's "sensitive" - a lot of products sting and burn.

Re: Tell your story!!!

Hi,
I've been reading all the messages posted here so I thought I'd throw one in. I had acne problems as a teenager. They werent that bad but still caused a great deal of discomfort and loss of self esteem. I went on some sort of medication which really didnt do alot of good but I got to I point where I was comfortable so I stopped using the medication.
I'm now 24 and I came to live in southeast asia to work about 12 months ago. After being here for maybe 2 months I started to get really bad acne on my neck and some spots on my face aswell(but the worst was on my neck). I thought to myself "oh no! This cant be happening! Im in a developing country and theres nothing i can do about it". The acne was worse than when I was 15. I left it for a while and tried change my face wash and moisturiser but nothing worked. I finally gave in and went to a doctor who gave me some tablets (no idea what they are called). After 3months things had gotten better, not as red and violent looking as before. After 5 months they were pretty much all gone. Now they are all gone. I dont think I have even had a pimple in about 4 months now and m,y face is as clear as it ever possibly could be.
Now I dont know how much it costs to get these treatments (i.e. laser etc) but this medicine cost my about US$5 per month. Pretty good. Im still taking it for fear of the acne coming back and I'll probably continue to take it until I leave the country.

Re: Tell your story!!!

i too broke out right after high school. right when i least expected it. my skin is starting to calm down after 5 monthes of horrible cystic break outs that left hyperpigmentation. i went a little product crazy and tried so many new things on my face. about 3 months ago i started taking birth control to balance my hormones and as far as products go, now i just stick with deep clean by neutrogena and the new product by aveeno that's supposed to reduce red marks. it seems to be working on my oldest spots of hyperpigmentation. i am trying to avoid the sun also by using aveeno skin brightning lotion with spf 15. i do take a lot of vitamins as well. but they may or may not be helping. if anyone knows of these supplements causing break outs please let me know. (multivitamin, zinc, evening primrose oil, COQ10, whey protein, flaxseed oil) otherwise i'm just trying not to stress.
