Hearing heart beat in my ear

Hey all. About 1 month ago i started taking adderall on a regular basis. I am 34 years old trying to get through college. About two weeks ago my right ear started feeling as though it was muffled a little when i listened to loud music in my car. I thought since my left front speaker in my car didnt work and the right one did that it was causing an imbalancing effect. So i faded the music all to the rear speakers. It seemed to help a little. Just about 4 days ago i was sitting in my living room studying and i could hear my heart thump in my right ear. It only did it several times for sevral seconds each time. It didnt happen again till last night when i couldnt sleep. I could hear my heart beat over and over in my right ear. The beat would last about 4 -10 seconds then go away. This happend over and over for about 2 hours. Now as i sit here typing the feeling in that ear is like a little pressure on and off. Kind of like wind blowing in my ear, but no swooshing sound. I do have borderline high blood pressure and have never taken medication for it. Sometimes when i check my bp its below the border range where other times its a little higher. Any ideas to what this could be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Hearing heart beat in my ear

Because the pulsing is more or less accompanied by on and off feelings of being "muffled", it really sounds like something simple, like an accumulation of wax deep in the ear or fluid in the eutachian tube.

I doubt VERY much that it's related to your blood pressure.

See an ENT doc who can immediatly see if there's a wax build-up. (do NOT fool around with this yourself or you can cause permanent damage.).

No Q-tips allowed!!!

I also suffer from what you describe...It is called pulsatile tennatis...And it doesn't happen because of a build up of wax in your ear...But do get that checked out...Most of the time it is caused by out of control blood pressure...And the blood pressure problem is usually caused by something...In my case it was pernicious anemia...Now I am not saying that you have pernicious anemia or high blood pressure...But please go and have it checked out...Go to the ENT, and go have your blood pressure checked into...

Re: Hearing heart beat in my ear

I agree about going to a doctor to check it out. I did and was diagnosed as having pulsatile tinnitus. The tests showed no cause. My gp prescribed 2 great drugs than have made the noise go away for most of the day. I take effexor (anti depressant) & clonazepam (anti anxiety) (min. dose for both).

Anxiety made my heart beat noise go faster or swoosh.

Re: Hearing heart beat in my ear

I just got the EXACT same thing like 5 seconds ago. And I remembered this post so I came to read the replies. Mine just started while I was sitting here surfing the web. I know I have low blood pressure but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Well now it stopped after about 5 minutes. I'm already on my ENT waiting list for JULY 5th I guess I'll ask him about it!
