taking antibiotics by crushing them into yogurt

I have trouble swallowing large pills. Am taking 1000 MG augmentin, even when I break them up, the rough part sometimes gets stuck in my throat. Is it alright to crush them up into yogurt? Its the only way I can crush it and not gag from the taste since the yogurt covers it up. Since there is bacteria in yogurt, I was wondering if this may be a problem. thanks

Check with your pharmacist. You can just call the pharmacy and they will be able to tell you.

Some drugs are not supposed to be crushed and put into food of any kind. I would call the pharmacist and ask them before you continue crushing them up. I also took 1,000 mg of Augmentin once for a nasty, nasty sinus infection. It's a pretty strong antibiotic - Check with the pharmacy.

It may be a little late for this round of meds, or maybe not. But I do know that Augmentin is available as a liquid. Not all are, but you should check when getting them filled for now on to see if its available for you particular script (particularly with antibiotics, there most likely to have a liquid form) Other than that, I agree with others that you should ask the pharmacist and find out, thats what they are there for.
