Unhappy Leg Pain

What could be causing my legs to be so tired and and achy? My thigh and calf muscles feel like I've ran a marathon. My feet, knees and ankles hurt too. After sitting a few minutes getting back onto my feet is pure agony. When I lie down my legs ache so that I can't fall asleep. I am slightly overweight but I have recently lost about 25 pounds and you'd think that would help. NOT!

I have been diagnosed with systemic lupus for 13 years but this is unlike anything that I've ever experienced with that. At times my knees seem so weak that they want to bend the wrong way if I step wrong and my tired legs make my whole body feel exhausted.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Re: Leg Pain

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I've been bruising very easily and have little petichiae all over my chest and breasts. This may or may not be related to my leg pain but I thought I'd mention it.

Re: Leg Pain

Just got home from the doctor's office. He thinks it's pressure on inflamed nerves caused by a previously diagnosed lower back problem. He put a shot of kenalog and marcaine in the joint between L4 and L5 and sent me home with a prescription of mobic. I guess we'll see what happens from here.

Re: Leg Pain

Hi marti_girl,

I see you've been talking to yourself (!)...sorry you haven't had responses yet but I just wanted to say hi and hope the Kenalog and marcaine work.

Fingers crossed this'll help and you feel some relief soon!

Re: Leg Pain

First time ---long time.

I have a had chronic back and been in intracable pain for at least 3 years. I won't bore you all of the different remedies that I've tried, I will tell you that on Febrary 9, 2008, I started on a treatment, taking 10 mg. of Nortryptiline, 1/2 hour before going to bed and within 3 days I was 95 % better. To this day, I have only found it necessary to take Norco 10-325, 4 times !! Today is March 27, 2008 and I am virtually pain-free.

Nortryptiline was first prescribed as an anti-depressent. But, they have since found that it treats chronic pain as well as nerve pain. Please try it.

Good luck
