Just Let Me Tell U Guys,i Was On Ritalin For 9 Yrs,addicted For 6,lemme Tell U,it Wasnt Pretty.it Took 9 Solid Months Of Slow Detox To Get Off Of It.ritalin Is Compared To Cocaine,so Anyone Who Is On It,be Careful,if It Makes U Feel High,u Need To Get Off Of It.i Could Have Easily Died Of A Heart Attack From Abusing It.the Sad Thing Is,i Was Put On It By A Doc At 12,so I Innocently Took It,not Knowing It Would Begin A Spiral Down Into Severe Addiction.i Guess People Who Have Been Drug Addicts R Supposedly "recovering Addicts" Which I Am,and Always Will Be,just Watch Out With This Med!

Hear you loud and clear. Addiction is a very real possibility and should never be under estimated. As you and I know, it sneaks up on you and you're hooked before you know it.

addprogrammer - From what I have read you have some first hand experience. I also have some minor experience because at one point I was taking painkillers multiple times a day for months. I would take oxycodone and methadone when I could get a hol of them but mainly tons of vicatin.

Can we give some suggestions that are ritalin specific to help people from becoming addicted. Maybe some warning signs or precursers that will shed light on the "grey area". I know a few people on here have some experience
