I am experimenting with both of these meds for hives. Both work well but each have small side effects.clarinex makes me feel energetic and then about 6 hrs later I am sooooo tired.Allegra makes me dehydrated with mild headache and less energetic.But---no hives with either.Which is better? I am torn between two meds!!!!Anybody on either or have pos. and negs to tell about either? Thanks!!

Re: allegra and clarinex side effects

Given what you told us, I would try drinking a lot more water than you usually do and take the allegra. The headache and low energy is probably from the dehydration, so if you can stay hydrated, it will probably go away.

Re: allegra and clarinex side effects

Do you think Allegra is an all around better medication than Clarinex? Thanks for the input!

Re: allegra and clarinex side effects

It's tough to say because everyone is different, but for me Allegra worked a lot better than Clarinex. But I prefer Zyrtec to either of these. Zyrtec can make some people drowsy though.
