Green Cream vs. Retin-A/Renova

As I am sure you all know by now, I have been prescribed Renova and haven't been tolerating it very well. The irritation it causes and the breakouts after I use it (even after lowering the frequency of my applications) still contines - but I have heard so many good things about Retinoids that I really do want to continue it, in hopes of getting over this "hump" and seeing really nice looking skin.

So I have also been hearing good things about "Green Cream." I went to their site and read about it, and it said that it's good for people who dont tolerate other retinoids very well. I am VERY interested!!

My question is this: Should I stop the Renova and try out the Green Cream? Would the Green Cream have the same advantages as Renova less the irritation, redness, and breaking out? PLEASE PLEASE I need some feedback before I shell out more money for something! It's Renova vs. Green Cream!

Renova will take less time to see the benefits. Green Cream which is retinol has to be converted to a retinoid so it will take longer to see the benefits. Say a year on retinoids versus 2 years on retinols.

Re: Green Cream vs. Retin-A/Renova

I have been using green cream for about 2 weeks now. I have dry to combination, acne prone, sensitive skin and am tolerating it well. I only had some dry flaky skin in the first week, but that is gone now. After about a week and a half I started the "purge". My acne is worse, but my skin actually looks better (where I don't have the pimples). So, I think you would probably go through the purge with green cream as well. How bad is the dryness?

Re: Green Cream vs. Retin-A/Renova

When I was initially using the Renova every night (I have now been directed to use it once a week for the next 3 weeks) my skin was a disaster. I had so much dry skin and flakiness that I started getting dry skin "patches" (very raw, bubbled up dry skin) that turned into blister like scabs. Uh, yeaaaah it was REALLY bad. Plus it was making my skin, as you said it, purge. Well I can deal with the dry skin, but not the dry skin and 100 pimples on top of it. I thought maybe the green cream skipped the purge part, but I guess there is just no way of getting around it!
