Re: Pneumonia Treatment

Oftentimes, when children are ill, they don't speak up and let anyone know about their symptoms until they are quite obvious to others. They just continue to play and pay no attention to what is happening inside of them. Look at how the cold never seems to bother a child - I don't know how many times I have to tell my kids to put their jackets back on or come in out of the rain etc. A week later you find that they have had a sore throat for several days or worse. As an adult, you don't need anyone to tell you when you aren't feeling good or when you need to see a doctor. I sure hope you will feel better soon! Be sure you aren't pushing yourself by overdoing it with activity. Rest a lot! Drink a lot of fluids. If you want to take cough syrup, then take it at night when you need the sleep otherwise, the best thing you can do with pneumonia is to cough all of that crud up to get rid of it. You don't want to supress your cough at all during the day, okay? Also, be careful using the nasal spray. They cause your nasal membranes to swell and you soon find that you NEED to use it just to breathe right. It can be very addicting and damaging to your body. Rubbing Vick's on your chest at night would be good. Dabbing a bit of it under or around the outside of your nostrils wouldn't hurt anything either. Feel better soon!!!

Re: Pneumonia Treatment

Sigh! Smithn, been doing all that. Already can't breath w/out the nasal spray and no, I have only used it 3 days just like it said to on the box. My dr says to take the Robitussin every 4 hrs. I think he is thinking that the Zyrtec will rid me of the mucus. My chest burns so bad from it draining into my chest all night long. The problem isn't getting mucus to drain, nor is it a runny nose...I just can't STOP my body from producing mucus. It is very draining, and I have to be ready to go back to work by June 1st. Normally I'd say that's plenty of time, but its already going on 3 weeks now I've been ill. I got the Zyrtec the DR called in last night...frickin' 80$ just for that!!! If that doesn't work I will be so mad!
