Enalapril

Hi,

I've been on Enalapril for about 3 weeks now. It's much better than the Atenolol and I haven't had any problems with a cough, but I'm getting frustrated with muscle fatigue. I've gone for runs a few times since I started Enalapril and my legs become extremely tired after short distances. Lifting weights is also frustrating since I seem to lift less each time.

Anyone else experience this? I'm going to see my doctor in the beginning of June. I might have to ask him to find another med or I might get off all meds if fatigue is necessary (or inevitable) to treat my high blood pressure.

Re: Enalapril

It's been twenty years since I;ve taken Vasotec, but I don't recall a lot of weakness...just coughing and little effect on my BP (I'm a salt sensitive hypertensive.)
However I looked up the common side effects of enalapril and weakness and fatigue are prominently mentioned.

Re: Enalapril

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. My BP is down with Enalapril, but I don't know if I want to live with the fatigue. It's not day to day fatigue like Atenolol, but when I'm working out or exercising in any way, I feel like I have half the capacity that I used to have. I'm pretty active, so this is very frustrating.

On a separate note, my pulse has gone back up to the 80s and 90s since I stopped the Atenolol.

Re: Enalapril

You might give it a bit more time and see if your body adapts before switching meds again. After only 3 weeks you probably haven't even gotten all the effects of the Atenolol out of your system yet.

Re: Enalapril

Yeah. I'm probably not being patient enough right now. My run last saturday was frustrating, but I should be more patient.

Thanks.
