Re: Body odor problem

Allright, I think I've got it! This is not a fungus after all. It has to do with the apocrine gland and I don't see how I missed that, especially after being diagnosed a short while back with an apocrine problem on my butt. I've often gotten painful cysts and thought they were follicle related but they were not.

Apparently all of those medicated shampoos will work for this. Also, they suggest putting 2 teaspoons of baking soda to one teaspoon of regular shampoo, or adding baking soda to tub water and soaking in it. The baking soda is supposed to neutralize odor.

NOW we've got it!

Re: Body odor problem

great job kitkat. so it's courtship and social issues that translate into regional body odor huh? thus far you've listed Selsun Blue, Nizoral, T-Gel, Polytar, and Denorex. is there any you recommend over another? personally the metallic selsun blue scent isnt too favorable, but if it works best then ill keep at it. and as far as i know, baking soda really doesnt mix into anything well. it may just fall off my head

Re: Body odor problem

The article gave Nizoral and T-Gel the highest ratings, but did say they all would work.

I've only ever tried Selsun Blue Revitalizing (scent is nice and it gives your scalp a cool tingle), and the one I just bought is Selsun Blue 2 in 1. I only bought it because it had the least amount on the shelf, so I thought it was the popular/best one. There's no tingle with this one but it does smell sort of like candy!

I like the baking soda idea but maybe to rub it in the scalp, or soak in it. I can see it mixing with the shampoo but it sounds like it might be hell to rinse.

Re: Body odor problem

I wanted to check in and see how the Selsun blue is working for you.

For me and my son, the smell is now officially GONE! My son even went 3 days without washing his head and the smell didn't come back! MY head now, smells only like my hairspray and mousse!

I think I might try alternating each day with my regular shampoo now, because the SB is expensive.

Re: Body odor problem

I've been there done that. Those so called 'doctors' will tell you that all you need to do is put on some deodorant on and tell you to take showers at least 3 times a day. Even if you tell them you do exactly just that. Or, They'll tell you to watch what you're eating. In most cases, watching what you eat doesn't help either. This body odor condition seems to be an unknown condition to 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999% of those so called 'doctors' out there. Simply a joke! This chronic bo condition should be researched and be taken more seriously. It is an embarrassing condition and no one seems to care, not even those so called 'doctors'. They'll simply just laugh at you when you try to explain them your problem. Very unfortunately for those with the condition. I consider this a disability because you're not normal with this condition. But, Life goes on. Just try your best to get by and maybe a cure will come. Or maybe you'll get a better life in your next life. Who knows, but just don't give up.
