Normally gout is not treated by a podiatrist but any doctor can legally prescribe
Allopurinol and Colchicine the two drugs that are probably being taken. I think the colchicine is useless however.
Has there been a confirmatory lab test: bichromatic light after aspiration of synovial fluid from affected joint?
Has there been a test of uric acid levels. Diet plays a minor role in uric acid levels and in triggering gout (beer, sodium nitrite, etc.).
I would assume she has been advised to consume plenty of water and to avoid NSAIDs unless really necessary.
Is it just one foot? Any history of trauma to the foot? Any animal bites there?
