Baking soda not working...

Well my face was really clear about 5 days ago (was using the BS) but then I got my Period and It went down hill from there. Now I almost back where I started..Its not bad but it seems like the Baking Soda just stopped working.

This always happens, whenever you find something good...it never lasts..So maybe I'll try it again after a couple weeks or days

For now i'm on the search for a new regimen

Any ideas?

Re: Baking soda not working...

Same thing happened to me! I was using the baking soda method, and I was THRILLED with the results I was getting! My face looked unbelievable for about two weeks. Then all of a sudden I broke out in cysts all over my chin and even three on my cheeks (I never, ever, EVER break out on my cheeks!) I know the baking soda is supposed to bring infection to the surface, but from my research, in this case, the baking soda basically will just bring to a head any existing pimples you have - it shouldn't be causing a purge of the skin such as Accutane or Retin-A.

So I stopped the baking soda and now my face looks good. Gosh, I wonder why it does that? I guess all good things must come to an end, huh?

Are you doing the lemon juice thing? Drinking the juice of one full lemon spaced out throughout the day? I have been doing it religiously for a good month now and I must say I think it's helping. The baking soda screwed with it a bit, but now I am back to normal. Also, I am drinking a couple cups of hot green tea a day and 8 oz. of pomegranate juice. But I would really recommend the lemon juice thing! I have an appointment in a week with the derm to see if I can get on Accutane again, but as of right now, he is going to think I am absolutely crazy b/c I maybe have one zit and that's it - and I think I owe a lot of that to the lemon juice!

Re: Baking soda not working...

YEA! I was getting some on my chin too and I barely ever breakout there. But I also had my period so I think this is what caused those hormonal ones on my chin.

No I havent been doing the Lemon Juice thing (i should start!)...I used to drink Green Tea all the time but it didnt help my skin and i thought it made me worse (i dont know maybe it didnt )

What is your skin care regimen?

Are you taking any supplements or just drinking the lemon water?

Re: Baking soda not working...

Here is my current regimen:

Morning:

*Wash face with Oil of Olay Clarity Skin Wash. (The ad "claims" it trains your skin to stay clear through hormonal changes...I still breakout around my period, but all the rest of the month I would say it's a great wash!)
*Use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Lotion SPF 15. I also use the Neutrogena Healthy Eye Lotion around my eyes. (I'm 20, but I'm paranoid about wrinkles and aging!)
*Drink one cup of 100% green tea. I usually eat a banana or a hardboiled egg for breakfast, something light but healthy. The green tea kills my appetite usually.
*I take one multi-vitamin, and a tsp of Royal Jelly.

Night:

*Wash face with Oil of Olay Clarity Skin Wash again
*Wait 30 min, the apply my Renova

Throughout the day I drink my lemon water. At Bed Bath and Beyond they have this great lemon juice squeezer you can get that really ensures you get all of the lemon juice you need. For a while, I was just cutting the lemon into slices and squeezing the juice by hand into my glass, but after I got the lemon juicer, it helped me get about 70% MORE juice from one lemon into the glass. I had no idea that before, I really wasn't getting all the lemon juice I needed.

Oh yeah, and I am also on birth control... I forget the name, but it's the generic version of Ortho-Tri Cyclen Lo. I'm just a poor college student I can't afford the real thing lol!

Well I hope this helps you or gives you some good ideas! Good luck xismybaby!

I'm 20 too! But i'm not paranoid about wrinkles because I have oily skin(i guess thats a plus!)

your regimen seems simple and good for your skin..I read some peoples regimens and they are using like 70% glycolic acid peels, BP and Salyclic acid together..

I like to care for my skin, not kill it and scrub it into submission

I'll have to try this

LOL!! I was on Ortho-tri cyclen Lo for about 10 days and it just made my skin look nasty and unhealthy (i was breaking out with little bumps). So I got off it right away because my skin wasnt that bad to begin with. I hope you have more luck than I did with this BC Pill

Well I hope this helps you or gives you some good ideas! Good luck xismybaby!
Thanks Cassie! It definitly did give me some ideas..I'm gonna start drinking the lemon juice and maybe start back up with the green tea. I hope your regimen keeps working for you! I think you have a great regimen going

Take care
