Re: anyone on coumadin and smoking

Hi Janet

Hmmmm... I will talk to my rheumie about this when I see her on the 18th. Some of my problems seem a little better - today is not a great day, my eyes are blurry today and I don't feel great. My husband got a splinter out of my finger and it wasn't easy and I didn't bleed a drop, maybe my INR is low. Blood test on Tuesday. Oh well, I am just going to cook up a storm for a big 4th of July picnic and try not to think about it.

What combinations do you think she should have tried? Thanks, Bern

Re: anyone on coumadin and smoking

well i know my hemotologist tried these...
coumadin alone
coumadin and a baby aspirin
coumadin and aggrenox
coumadin and plavix which is what i am on now.
also they have me on zocor and altace as it has shown to lower the risk or restroke. i dont have high bp nor high cholestrial, just take it cause of some side affect that lowers the risk.
also if they have not yet checked your homocysteine levels....make certain that they do. this is bad bad bad if it is high.

Re: anyone on coumadin and smoking

My docs were scratching their heads with me this past May. At first I was on the Heparin Drip being monitored to go home with coumadin. Then they changed their mind and kept me on Plavix as they would not RX both of them together for fear I would bleed. But, I am sure each case is different. I begged for Coumadin for my A-Fib attack but they won out. Also on 2 baby aspirins daily. Good Luck To All.
