Re: Cozaar Cough??

I've been coughing since I quit the ARBs, but not as much as when I was on them. I think next month I'll start again on either the Benicar or the Diovan to see what happens. Do any of you ARB coughers think one is a better choice than the other?

Re: Cozaar Cough??

I don't know which one would be best for coughers, but you can have different reactions to different drugs. I tried Lotrel which is amlodipine and benazepril, a CCB and ACEI, and felt like I was going to cough up a lung, plus it did nothing for my bp. I curently take dilitizem (tiazac) and captopril, a CCB and ACEI and don't seem to be coughing, or at least not much. I'm also getting pretty good bp control.

So try a different ARB or even a different ACEI. I found it took a few weeks to get over the Lotrel cough, although supposedly if you stop the ACEI the cough stops immediately. If you aren't coughing too badly, you might even wait a bit and see if the cough goes away. Do you have pollen allergies? If so that might also be a factor in getting rid of the cough. I think it was for me.

Re: Cozaar Cough??

Just stumbled across this message board while searching for info about an annoying cough I have. I am currently taking Lisinopril for the last four months, just about the same time I started with this cough. I would appreciate it very much if someone would give me more information on this. Thank you.
