My Dr says that my leg pain should be gone if it was being caused by the Lipitor

I quit taking it in mid March. I still have leg pain. I am not sure that it is not getting worse. I am having blood testing done for muscle tissue in the blood, compression(?I think she said), potassium, & thyroid. If these all come out normal, she wants to talk about Fibromyalgia. I know that I have read on here that some people have had leg pain for over a year. What do you think?

I developed fibromyalgia after taking statins. I have read on the internet where some people believe statins caused them to develop this syndrome. They call it "statin induced fibro". I will always wonder if statins did something to my immune system to cause it.

It depends on how long U took it, plus everyone doesn't get rid of the pain in a certain amount of time, so your dr. is wrong. I was on Lipitor for only 3 months and developed very bad GI problems, and it took them 8 months to get me cleared away. After all that, they shoved me on Baycol, and that is when the aches and pains really started. My dr. even knocked me down to taking it 3 days a week, but I still coulnd't handle it, and my fatique and pains and aches too over 6 months too feel much better.

I'm glad your dr. is doing tests, and hopefully they come back ok. Many on here have taken COQ10 to help with the pains and aches, but it isn't cheap. I believe about 50-100 mgs. is what most folks take.

Good luck with the tests, and hope ya feel better soon..

clerky,

If the pain was caused by a statin it should abate after several months of no statin use. If it's arthritis, then it's a pain that would have occurred anyway.

People get aches and pains. It's part of getting older. I'm not fond of fibromyalgia diagnoses...sounds too much like "alternative medicine" to me.
Treating diseases without a clear diagnosis sounds too close to the "quack barrier" to me.
