Lung Cancer and Fever

Hi all,

My mom is 55 yrs old-non smoker. She got lung cancer and the stage is 3b-4. She got menopause already.

Her condition worsened rapidly after the first chemo (total chemo), her breath was getting shorter and she was getting weaker. After the first chemo, she has fever everyday. After the first chemo the doctor gave her Iressa.

We transferred her to another hospital. This second hospital manage to normalize her breathing and pump out the water from her lung. Apparently the water in her lung is clustered that's why when the first chemo was given her lung still contain a lot of water. (at least this is what i heard).

The fever is still there. We thought it would be iressa (she took them for 20days) and we stopped it since 3 weeks ago. (yet she still has fever everyday in the morning). The doctor have taken her blood sample for infections analysis but it is negative. The fever hampers the doctor to proceed next step. Not to waste the time the doctor now is giving her local chemo (targeted to cancerous cell only).

I wonder what really cause her fever. Even we have stopped all medication for several days if the fever is side effect from her medication but it is still there. Her fever depletes her energy and slowdown her recovery process. Is there anybody had similar experience like mine? What might cause her fever and how to stop this. Thanks a lot before hand.

Best regards

Jesse
