Re: nystatin liquid or tablets?

Hi,

The liquid nystatin is vile-tasting, but I must say it does work if you keep using it (and do whatever else you can to keep yeast to a minimum). I don't know about the tablets, but I would think that the liquid would be better because it coats the whole mouth if you swish it around.

My doctor recommended a book called 'The Body Ecology Cookbook' and actually uses it himself. Though if someone is in recovery from Lyme I doubt if they're going to be able to do much if any cooking at all. Thought I 'd mention it though.

I've never tried them myself, but there are a number of herbal yeast control systems, such as Candida Cleanse. Worth a try, maybe.

Re: nystatin liquid or tablets?

Dear fotomom,

Dr. Crist has all of his patients on nystatin the whole time you are on meds I think. After the visit the first week you take none while you get off all fruit and sugar, the second week 2 - 4x a day, the third week 3 - 4x a day and then the 4th week 4 - 4x a day. Seems like a lot. I can't remember after that but I think I read that after that you drop back and take a maintenance dose. He just feels yeast is such a problem so he tries to nip it in the bud so all you are dealing with is the lyme. The pills are prettyy cheap too. He actually gave me a script for 200 with 5 refills. That is the only thing he gave me refills for. I think if there is a real problem he adds diflucan.
