I hope somebody can help me..

Gosh I do I've been miserable for months now. It started with a stuffy nose & itchy itchy eyes. Then I developed a headache. A horrible one. I went to the doctor for a possible sinus infection. He gave me antibiotics & a decongestant.. I took all of them. Now, weeks later, I'm still miserable. One of my nostrils is always stuffed up. Not usually both.. just one at a time. My nosy is ALWAYS itchy.. my eyes are so itchy I just wanna tear them out. And I have so much pressure in my forehead. It's just misery. My mother thinks it could be allergies.. since I sneeze most of the time like 25 times in a row. Anybody have any ideas? My head hurts so bad that if there's like a railing or something to hold onto, I have to, because I'm afraid I'm gonna fall. I just get very foggy.

Have you tried any antihistamines? Benedryl works well and is OTC...you might try one tonight (they make you sleepy) and see how it works. If it helps, then you have allergies.

If you are sneezing like that it very well could be allergies. Allergies are weird because with age they change etc. just because you did not have them before does not mean that it could not be allergies now. I would try some benydryl (over the counter) for sneezing and sudafed if you are stuffy. You should probably talk to your family doctor about it. They could probably give you samples of Zrytec or something similar (whatever they have that they think might help). Allergies can make you sneezy, stuffy, headaches, dizzy and a whole slew of problems. I have them and hate them LOL.

I agree it sounds like allergies. Like the others said, try an OTC allergy medicine, and if it helps, then see your doctor for an evaluation and for less drowsy prescription options.

Re: I hope somebody can help me..

I'm very sorry for what you are going through Erika. Summer 2005 has been unlike any other in my 35 years. I discovered I had allergies in 1997 and they seem to worsen every year. I agree with our fellow posters that you need something to dry you up, such as Sudafed and have a severe reaction to something in your environment. Look at weather.com to see the pollen types and levels now and when you feel bad.

I'd also suggest testing. My eight year old was tested and is getting shots now. He is doing MUCH better. Keep us posted. I used to sneeze for what seemed an eternity and it will drive you crazy. Watch out for store-bought medicines, such as Tylenol Sinus, as they can drive your blood pressure way up and make you jittery or nervous and impatient. I think you should get tested and run the cost by your insurance company to see what you are expected to pay so you know what is expected.

I get allergy shots weekly and take Allegra-D twice per day. My allergies are that horrible! My friends say I am "Bubble Boy". My allergist says I am the star patient in her office because of the severity of my allergies - nothing life threatening though.

You may need a second round of antibiotics to knock out the infection and drying your sinuses up may speed up the recovery since the constant drainage is trapped in your sinuses and leads to severe infections. Sometimes my sinus infections have to be treated with two rounds of antibiotics to get well. Keep us posted on your progress.

Take Care,
John
