Allergies; specifically my EYES

Had allergies my whole life and never really realized it.. Went to the allergist this summer finally to deal with Terrible post nasal drip, sneezing, runny nose, and the worst symptom irritated eyes and eyelids.

He put me on a regimen of Nasacort(steroid nasal spray) and AllegraD (12 hour) in the monring with Astelin(nasal spray) and singulair at night. Plus I decided to start allergy shots which has been disrupted by going to school. gonna stick with it though.

Anyway, my nasal problems are completely gone. But my EYES still get no relief, Irritated eyelids that are red and swollen, and it's disturbing looking. I just bought a visine with an antihistamine, it doesnt do much. So What should I do? I wear contacts but go long periods without wearing them and the symptoms are there all the time with or without them!!

Where can I find some relief?!!?

ask your doctor for a prescription for an allergy eyedrop. I use Patanol, but there are other good ones. If you need something over-the-counter, than Opcon-A is the best OTC one.

It also helps me during high pollen counts to use an eyewash to wash the stuff out of my eyes.

Many colleges health centers will give you allergy shots, if you supply your doctors shot serums.

the allegraD should have the antihistimine in it that you need. Just curious but do you wear eye makeup? Many people that have these problems are allergic to the red dye in some eye shadows (mainly deep browns, purples etc.) and/or allergic to something in the mascara or eye liner. If you do wear eye makeup you may want to review what you are putting on etc.

good luck,
Amanda

No, I dont wear eye makeup because I am a male. But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I just bought a humidifer to put in my room, we will see if that helps.
