Re: day uno.

I haven't had to go c/t off my meds (at least not in a way that lasted), every time I would get bad I would just find more meds like you. I have now talked to my doctor about it and started on methadone. For pain and for tapering off the opiates. If you find you can't seem to make it past w/d and keep relapsing you might want to consult with your doctor and see what they can do to help you. It is scary to think about telling them but from what I've seen here, most people's doctors have been very understanding. I know mine was!

Re: day uno.

Hey fitzg1,

How many days have you been cold turkey? Going cold turkey for whatever reason is tough. The symptoms peak between 3-5 days but will continued maybe even up to 7-14 days. The physical symptoms will get better with each passing day. Some who have posted here got better and then got worse and then better again.

Aches/pains/flu like symptoms - Aleve, ibuprophen, tylenol, lots of hot baths
Headaches - all listed above or Goody Powders
Nausea - Dramamine or phenergan
Diarrhea - Immodium AD
Sleep - Tylenol PM, Benadryl, Melatonin
Back pain - heating pad, hot baths, Aleve, Maybe laying flat on floor with small of back pressed down on floor and relased (like exercise) multiple times, massages, stretching exercises yoga like techniques.

It is essential during this time that you keep hydrated. Even if your not hungry, drink fluids. Hot drinks also work to help with alot of the symptoms above. If you have no appetite or are nauseated try hard to eat a few bites at least every few hours while awake. Remember foods that you eat when you're just getting over a stomach virus. My favorites are crackers, toast, rice with lots butter/margarine. soups, jello, ice cream. Anything you like.

I'll check in tomorrow. Let us know how ya are.

Re: day uno.

Fitzg1,

You definitely are doing right by posting and reaching out. I am 3 weeks clean from a large hydro and soma habit. I have tried numerous times in the past to stop and would always go back. This time I used the Nutracleanse and for the first few days the Thomas receipe. I am still using Nutraclenase and all of the vitamins and minerals with the addition of some amino acids. I feel marvelous and have since about day 3. To my knowledge, the Nutracleanse is natural and when you stop it there is a slight bit of fatigue nothing a red bull can't take care of. It is miserable feeling to be "tied" to something that you feel powerless over I started to hate myself and felt like a failure for my kids.

I have been in your shoes, it can be done. You have to want it more than anything. You have to work at it no matter which way you decide to "clean up" Stay on this or a board so as you clean up, you will always have fresh in your mind what a fuc*** nightmare you were in. I allow myslef about 20 minutes each day to read and sometimes post on these boards.

You are young(i assume from the college reference) you have your whole life ahead of you. I am sure that you don't want to wake up 50 and still addicted.

Make a decision and do it. there are a lot of people that can help on this and other boards.

Best of luck to you and God bless,

Re: day uno.

I reached day two at around 12 last night. Today hasn't been bad in the way of cramps. The fatigue isnt as bad as it was yesterday either, but its still by no means gone. I feel awful. I wasnt depressed yesterday, but today it's awful. I feel completely alone, and im doing my best to not hop a bus home, everything seems so ****ing nightmarish right now. I hope to god that this is the worst of it.

Re: day uno.

I think that the worst is over. The depression has passed for now. Cramps have dimished to a tolerable level.
