It works really well. It will keep yours from getting as bad. You need to use it a few times a day and then wash your hands really well after you put it on. Also don't touch your cold sore unless you are putting the medication on. It can be spread to others and also to other places on your body. It can even get in your eye and cause major problems. A cold sore is on the outside of your lip.

Hi Kari,

Thanks so much for the information on Abreva, I went to KMarts today to get some, wow is it expensive, but let me tell you it is working unbelievable fast. My scabs are all hard and it is not tingling anymore.

I didn't think there was an actual medicine out there for cold sores, but I have never had a cold sore either.

I can't wait until tomorrow, maybe this thing will be half gone.

Re: Wow I Woke Up With.............

Your right it is expensive. Where I am it's normally $15.00. Every once in a while I notice it's on sale for $10.00 so I pick up a tube then for the next time he gets one. He gets one about once or twice a year so we like to keep it on hand for the next time. I have never had one so I must be immune to them because I know I have kissed him right when he was getting one when they are very contagious but I just never get them. I avoid kissing him as soon as I know he's got one until it's completely gone. I also don't share anything like chap stick or a glass with him ever just in case he's got one coming on and doesn't have the symptoms yet. Yeah the Abreva heals a cold sore amazingly fast. I always have wondered how it works and wonder if it would heal acne really fast too but with how expensive it is I haven't bought myself any to try and I won't share his tube that's for sure.

Re: Wow I Woke Up With.............

Hi Kari...My husband gets them and I thought I was immune too. I feared them like the plague and did all the same things you do when he had one....until that dreaded day after 21 years of marriage (in 2000) and the flu hit me...the coldsore and a cough were the first symptoms, then the fever! Not only one but 4 in one and another just above it on the top lip. Took almost 2 weeks for it all to heal, and that was WITH Zovirax...I can't imagine how it might have been without.

I've only had one other since then tho....whew!

I think I'll take your suggestion and purchase Abreva to have on hand for when my husband gets his next one.

Hope....glad to hear you're recovering quickly. Keep the abreva on hand for the first sign of one.

Be well,
quincy
