Re: Update on 57 yr. old hubby

Hi and thanks again for the support.

Yes, he is on cholesterol med. Actually we set up his pill boxes tonight and I couldn't hardly believe how many different meds he is taking - a bunch of over the counter stuff along with his prescribed meds. We will take a list with us to the doc. and see what he thinks. Wouldn't it be wonderful if it was something as simple as a medication problem?

I sure do appreciate the members on this board.

Re: Update on 57 yr. old hubby

Another question....:-)

Which medication is he on? Lipitor or Zocor? He is not diabetic? ? I am asking because my Father who is ONLY 61 has had memory problems for over a year, is not working, disibility begins next week. 2nd opinion for Alzheimer's in a few weeks up at Mayo in Rochester. A very stressful and scary time for my family. My Dad was on Zocor for 2 years and is diabetic. He has been off of the Zocor now since June 2005. No significant improvement. :-( Looking for hope and answers. Got to have hope and faith!! Hang in there...

Re: Update on 57 yr. old hubby

I'm going to have to check on that and get back with you. (He's asleep right now and I'm not sure where his med list is.) I know he was on Zocor in the past - but I think currently he takes Lipitor and also Ad****r (spelling?). Doc drew blood today and will decide whether to continue the Ad****r or not.

Doc did tell him to QUIT taking a bunch of extra over the counter things he was taking for sleeplessness. It wasn't working anyway and was possibly hurting - so we'll see if that will make a difference.

And we got a referral for a neurologist; appt. is Dec. 29th. (I'm guessing tests will be ordered and probably be mid to late January - but at least we have the appt. now.)

He is not diabetic. His mom was - but so far, he is not. He has a weak/damaged heart (resulting from heart attack about 6 years ago) and is on a bunch of meds for that. He's been on disability since the heart attack - so cognitive ability for work performance is not an issue. If it was, I don't know if we would notice more problems or not.

I wish you the best and hope it is not AD. I have empathy for your stress about this. I feel very panicky everytime I think about it possibly being AD.

I'll check on the meds and post tomorrow.
